Let’s Use 5 Minutes for 3 Actions—and Speak Up with 1 Voice for Disability Rights!
Right now, people with disabilities are facing big challenges. Some leaders in Washington, DC want to cut our services, erase our protections, and silence our voices. But we can fight back. And it only takes 5 minutes to make a big difference!
NACDD is asking YOU to take 3 quick actions today. Each one takes about a minute or two, and together, they send a strong, united message with 1 voice: We are here. We are watching. We will not be left out.
Action 1 & 2 : Submit your public comments on TWO Section 504 Rules.
Stop the Department of Energy from Removing Accessibility Rules
The Department of Energy wants to get rid of important Section 504 protections. These rules make sure buildings funded with tax dollars are accessible to people with disabilities. There are TWO public comment opportunities that need the attention of the disability community. If we don’t act, this rollback becomes law in July.
📬 Take Action Here:
- Public Comment 1: Protect Disability Access
- Public Comment 2: Direct Final Rule on Nondiscrimination
Action 2: Tell Congress to Protect Medicaid
More than 10 million people with disabilities rely on Medicaid for healthcare and support. This includes doctor visits, medicine, therapy, and personal care services. Without it, many people could lose the help they need to stay healthy—and in some cases, stay alive. The bill passed by the House doesn’t protect people with disabilities. One of the most harmful cuts would be to Home and Community-Based Services. HCBS helps people with disabilities live at home instead of being forced into nursing homes or institutions. It includes help like home health aides, personal care, and long-term support.
