Goal 1

Sustain regular open biweekly meetings of stakeholders to share common concerns and promising practices – State Alliance Team has become a central conduit for facilitating cross-systems partnerships to effectual systems change in a number of policy and programmatic areas.

  • Joint Annual Summit Conference on Aging and Disabilities with State Unit on Aging, Area Agencies on Aging, State Independent Living Council, Centers for Independent Living, and other partners.
  • Rapid introduction of mental health advocacy organizations to other state partners.
  • Rapid coordination and mutual support around federal FY 2026 budget reductions
  • Coordinated support of state budget for additional Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) navigators and Long-Term Care (LTC) ombudspersons
  • Dissemination of state civil rights protections in absence of federal enforcement
  • Sharing of Person-Centered Planning (PCP) tools:
    • Charting the Life Course shared from DD State Agency to State Unit on Aging
    • Supported Decision Making (SDM) shared by DD community with AgingCT
    • The Arc of the United States Future Planning Toolkit and “The Future is Now” curriculum published by the University of Illinois-Chicago
  • Municipal Assets for DD – Senior Centers and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinators
  • Input to State Multisector Plan for Aging and Disabilities
