As we observe Mental Health Awareness Month, the National Association for of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) reaffirms its commitment to prioritizing mental health as a key element of our policy efforts. Collaboration and an action-oriented approach are at the heart of our mission.
Through cooperative efforts with policymakers and community organizations, NACDD strives to break down barriers to mental health care access and ensure that individuals with developmental disabilities receive the services and support needed to thrive. We actively seek partnerships with other organizations and stakeholders across the health and human services spectrum to pool resources, share knowledge, and drive innovative solutions. By fostering awareness and advocacy, we strive to break barriers to enhance mental health resources and outcomes for individuals with developmental disabilities and ensure holistic well-being for all individuals. Through these efforts, we aim to shape a society where people with developmental disabilities are fully supported, in community-based settings, in their mental health journeys as well as in striving to achieve their full potential.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we call on communities, leaders, and advocates everywhere to join us in this vital cause, to acknowledge that mental health is health, and to join us in illuminating the path toward a more understanding, supportive, and inclusive society for everyone.
