On Friday, August 7th, Deidre Davis Butler, a champion for disability rights and a leader in the fight for the passage of the Americans With Disabilities Act passed away. At the age of 6, Davis Butler was diagnosed with a spinal tumor and lost the ability to walk as a side effect of the surgery to remove it. A graduate from the Howard University School of Law, she also worked at both the White House Office of Presidential Personnel and the Division at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. We are truly saddened to hear of the passing of a great spirit who worked very closely with communities of colors and disabilities to make sure that their voices were also heard.
