The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) mourns the recent passing of the Chairman of the National Council on Disability (NCD), Andrés Gallegos. Andrés was one of our nation’s leading figures in disability rights as well as a fierce champion of true inclusion and equal opportunities for people with developmental disabilities.
NACDD was very fortunate to have Mr. Gallegos join us at our 2022 Annual Conference in Washington DC where he spoke in tandem with our federal partners on how the Biden administration empowered people with I/DD with innovative policies. Andrés was also a critical partner in the HHS’ work to end I/DD discrimination in medical care and to address the health discrepancies experienced by people with disabilities.
Andrés Gallegos passion and energy for the disability community will be missed but never forgotten.
